News Summary:

The NCAA finalized the payment structure for the Ray settlement on February 18, 2026, totaling $303 million to be paid over a three-year period beginning this summer. To fund the annual $101 million payment for fiscal years 2026-28, 60% will come from reductions to Division I revenue distributions, with the remaining 40% from the NCAA national office. Earlier in the month, on February 10, the Division II Membership Committee approved Shawnee State, a current member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, to enter the expedited provisional membership process beginning September 1. This two-year process, established in 2024, allows schools to complete their transition to Division II within two years if all requirements are met. Previously, on February 9, the NCAA recognized recipients of its 2026 Legends and Legacy Community Awards, honoring community leaders in Indianapolis and Phoenix, the host cities for the NCAA Men's and Women's Final Four, for their service and commitment to local issues.
