Gerry Byrne, vice chairman of Variety parent company PMC and a longtime media business executive, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters from his alma mater, Fordham University, at its commencement ceremony on May 16. This recognition, announced on April 29, follows Fordham's earlier statement on April 22 that it would award honorary degrees to two alumni accomplished in media and literature, including Byrne, an entrepreneur, media executive, and advocate for military veterans, and Maureen Corrigan, a scholar and book critic.
