Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) is a Spanish public service broadcaster established in 1956. Owned by the Spanish state, it provides television and radio broadcasting services. As of 2023, RTVE employed approximately 4,860 people and generated revenue exceeding $1 billion. Its headquarters are located in Spain.
RTVE and Mediapro acquired the Spanish broadcast rights to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. FIFA initiated a tender process in January 2025, with bids due February 18. On March 19, 2025, news outlets reported that RTVE and Mediapro secured the rights after a competitive bidding process. RTVE will pay €55 million for the rights to broadcast the tournament in the United States. Mediapro will have the ability to create a dedicated channel to sell rights to other platforms.
