Sanzaar is a privately owned Australian company founded in 1996 as a joint venture between the Australian, New Zealand, and South African rugby unions. Employing approximately 20 people, Sanzaar's primary function is the organization and administration of major international rugby tournaments in the Southern Hemisphere. As of 2023, these tournaments include Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship.
Sanzaar confirmed the schedule for the 2025 Rugby Championship, to be played from August 16 to October 2, maintaining the mini-tour format with each team playing six matches (three home, three away). A partnership between New Zealand Rugby and Sanzaar partners resulted in a Fantasy Rugby Championship, launching in August before the Rugby Championship's first fixture. Separately, Nine and Rugby Australia renewed their partnership through 2030, an agreement that requires Sanzaar ratification and will provide increased rugby access for fans across various platforms.
