Super League Basketball (SLB) is a privately owned men's professional basketball league headquartered in the UK. Founded in 2024, it replaced the British Basketball League (BBL) as the premier men's basketball competition in Great Britain. As of 2023, the league employed approximately 10 people.
Super League Basketball (SLB) initiated legal proceedings against the British Basketball Federation (BBF) on an unspecified date. SLB alleges that the BBF breached UK competition law, abused its dominant position, and failed to act rationally, fairly, and lawfully as a sports governing body. The BBF signed a 15-year licensing deal with GBB League Ltd on an unspecified date to operate the men's professional league. SLB declared this tender process illegal on Wednesday. Separately, the UK government’s sports minister, Stephanie Peacock, reportedly advocated for an inquiry into SLB's allegations regarding the legality of the BBF's tender process.
