Tele2 is building 100 new base stations in Norrland as part of a multi-billion kronor investment over the past five years to upgrade its mobile networks, which includes replacing 2G and 3G antennas with combined 4G/5G panels and adding new frequency bands. This expansion in Norrland, covering 35,000 square kilometers from 2021 to 2025, has led to a 70% surge in mobile network usage in the region, which encompasses Sweden's northernmost five counties. Earlier, on February 11, Tele2 Sweden reported a significant increase in mobile streaming on its 5G network during the Winter Olympics cross-country sprint finals. Data consumption for streaming rose by over 1800% during the women's final and more than 3000% during the men's sprint final. On February 6, Freya Investissement entered into a total return swap with two Nordic banks in relation to Tele2 AB class B shares, as disclosed by Finansinspektionen. Previously, on February 5, details from Tele2 AB's Q3 2022 earnings call revealed a 4.1% year-over-year revenue increase to SEK 7.3 billion, with an EBITDA margin expanding to 34.1% due to cost savings and operational efficiency. The company targeted a 35% EBITDA margin by the end of 2023.
