European Cycling Union, also known as Union Européenne de Cyclisme or UEC, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Switzerland. Founded in 1990 and operating with approximately 10 employees, the entity focuses on motorsports and cycling. The company's aim is the development and encouragement of all cycling disciplines in Europe, and it organizes all the European Championships and European Cups.
Slovenia will host the 2026 UEC Road European Championships this October, marking the most significant cycling event ever held in the country. Previously, on April 26, 2026, European Cycling Union Events Coordinator Vladimiros Petsas, who also serves as race director for the eight-day event, praised the Tour of Türkiye, stating it has reached a level almost comparable to the Tour de France and other major cycling events, noting significant annual progress and growing passion for the sport in Türkiye. Earlier, on April 6, the UEC announced Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine will organize the 2026 UEC Granfondo European Championships, featuring a 22km time trial on Saturday and options for a 101km mediofondo or a 126km granfondo on Sunday. This follows the UEC’s Management Board awarding six major events for both 2026 and 2027 on March 14, thereby enriching the European cycling calendar.
