International Weightlifting Federation

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), a state-owned non-profit organization founded in 1905, is headquartered in Switzerland. Employing approximately 70 people, the IWF serves as the governing body for international weightlifting, recognized by the International Olympic Committee. Comprising 194 national federations across five continents, its primary activity is the organization and regulation of weightlifting as a spectator sport. As of 2023, the IWF continues to operate in this capacity.
