Joyn, also known as Joyn GmbH, is a privately owned subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Media headquartered in Germany, specifically in Unterföhring, Munich. Founded in 2019 and employing approximately 220 individuals, the company reported $128.4M in revenue as of 2024. As a tier 1 media tech buyer, it specializes in media and TV services. Functioning as a video streaming and live-TV aggregator service, Joyn was launched as a successor to 7TV and Maxdome. It was originally established as a 50/50 joint venture between ProSiebenSat.1 Media and Warner Bros. Discovery. In late 2022, ProSiebenSat.1 acquired Discovery’s remaining 50% stake, solidifying Joyn as a wholly owned subsidiary and a core digital engine within ProSiebenSat.1's entertainment ecosystem. The platform serves monthly active users across the Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH) region, operating on a hybrid business model that prioritizes free, ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) alongside a paid premium tier.
On September 10, 2026, German broadcaster Sat.1 and streamer Joyn ordered a local adaptation of Banijay Entertainment’s reality format *The Detective Club*. Banijay Productions Germany will produce the local version, titled *Club der Reality Detektive*, which marks the format's first international adaptation. Previously, on September 8, the ProSiebenSat.1 streaming service announced it attracted 10.5 million users in August, an increase of 20.2 percent, making it Joyn’s best August since its inception. This followed its record-breaking July performance, reported on August 11, when it reached 10.6 million viewers, growing by 17.2 percent and placing it a million users ahead of RTL in Germany. Joyn's average monthly views for 2026 stood at 11.1 million. Earlier, on August 6, ProSiebenSat.1 reported improved profitability in the first half of 2026, with growth in its Joyn platform and strict cost management offsetting declining linear TV revenues amid a weak German television advertising market.
