Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT), also known as Lietuvos nacionalinis radijas ir televizija or Lietuvos Radijas ir Televizija, is a state-owned public service broadcaster headquartered in Lithuania. Founded in 1926, LRT began regular radio broadcasts that year and expanded to television in 1957. The organization, which employs approximately 770 people, currently operates three national television channels, multiple radio stations, and a website. LRT joined the European Broadcasting Union in 1993. In 2020, its revenue totaled approximately $10 million.

News Summary:

On June 10, Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) reported that 61 dead seals were found along Lithuania's Baltic Sea coast in May and June, compared to 46 in the previous year. On July 29, LRT reported that Lithuania plans to spend €500 million over the next 10 years on anti-tank mines, prioritizing local manufacturers. A tender for the supply of these mines is being considered by five Lithuanian companies. On August 19, LRT reported that the opposition conservative Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats proposed strengthening national defense with a ‘drone wall,’ including interception drones, jammers, missiles, ammunition towers, and a drone recognition system. LRT also announced an award-winning audio experience related to the EBU Audio Storytelling Festival.
