Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), also known as Central German Broadcasting, is a German state-owned public broadcaster established in 1992. Headquartered in Leipzig, with additional studios in Dresden, Erfurt, and Magdeburg, MDR serves the states of Thuringia, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt. Employing approximately 1160 people, MDR's operations include its own television channel and several radio channels. It also contributes programming to Das Erste, the national German television channel. In 2023, MDR's revenue was below $1 billion.
