MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, also known as Dorna Sports, is a privately owned company headquartered in Spain. A subsidiary of Liberty Media, the company was founded in 1998 and has approximately 600 employees. It reported $480.0M in revenue as of 2024. The company specializes in content rights and functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Since 1992, it has been the exclusive holder of all commercial and television rights relating to the World Championship series and, since 2013, the Superbike World Championship.
MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta acknowledged on March 3, 2026, that staging the Qatar Grand Prix, scheduled for April 10-12, would be "difficult" due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, but stressed that the organization would not seek a replacement circuit. This development follows reports from February 18, 2026, confirming Victoria lost the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix after three decades, ending its long connection to Phillip Island. The move occurred after the Victorian government reportedly refused to move the event to Melbourne, with South Australia emerging as its new home. Earlier that day, reports indicated Victoria was set to lose the race, marking a significant setback for the Victorian government, which had been in negotiations with rights holder Dorna Sports over an extension. This news came after initial reports indicated Victoria had lost the annual MotoGP race, with its contract for Phillip Island expiring after the October 23-25 race, suggesting it could be the last Grand Prix at the iconic venue.
