MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, also known as Dorna Sports, is a privately owned company headquartered in Spain. Founded in 1998, with approximately 600 employees, it operates under parent company Liberty Media, reported $480.0M in revenue as of 2024, and functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The company specializes in content rights, providing international sports management, marketing, and media services. Since 1992, Dorna Sports has served as the exclusive holder of all commercial and television rights for the World Championship series, extending this role to the Superbike World Championship since 2013.
MotoGP's five manufacturers officially reached an agreement with MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group on June 19, 2026, for the sport's next commercial contract, which begins in 2027. This collective negotiation, a departure from previous individual five-year contract cycles, was prompted by Liberty Media's takeover of Dorna (now MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group) and aims for a Formula 1-style share of championship income. Earlier, on June 11, MotorLand Aragon secured its place on the MotoGP calendar for 2027 and will serve as an official reserve venue until 2031, following a new agreement between the Government of Aragon and Dorna Sports. Previously, on June 7, MotoGP teams agreed to ban ride-height devices at race starts after the summer break, implementing new safety measures following an incident at the Catalan Grand Prix where LCR Honda rider Johann Zarco was injured. This decision came as speculation emerged on June 2 regarding the future of WorldSBK at Phillip Island after 2027, following MotoGP's impending exit from the venue. On May 19, MotoGP chief sporting officer Carlos Ezpeleta defended the race direction's decision to restart the Catalan Grand Prix twice, calling it "correct," despite some riders questioning the call after major incidents hospitalized Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco.
