Google and NBCUniversal announced on July 30, 2026, a new multi-year partnership to integrate Peacock Premium into eligible U.S. YouTube Premium subscriptions starting in early 2027. This initiative will add Peacock to monthly YouTube plans at no additional cost for subscribers, though the service will not be ad-free despite YouTube Premium's commercial-skipping feature. This development signals a broader trend in the streaming industry towards re-bundling services, a shift from previous models emphasizing individual subscriptions. Previously, on July 29, Peacock reported its first quarterly profit since its launch six years prior, achieving $189 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for the second quarter. This performance reversed a $432 million loss incurred in the first quarter of 2026. Parent company Comcast noted the streaming service increased its paid subscribers by 4% to 48 million, attributing the profitability to content, including NBA playoff games, FIFA World Cup coverage, and reality television.
Peacock currently holds 47 broadcasting rights for sports competitions including rugby union, golf, motorsports, marathon, american football, cycling, winter sports, soccer | association football, gymnastics, tennis, athletics, ice skating, cyclo-cross and horse racing.
