News Summary:

On August 16, 2026, the UK Government’s Culture Secretary appointed Rhodri Lewis and Stephen Dimmick to S4C's board for four-year terms, effective September 1. Previously, on August 7, S4C announced Seiriol Dawes-Hughes as its new Sports Commissioner. Dawes-Hughes formerly served as the Executive Producer of *Sgorio*, S4C’s flagship football program produced by Rondo Media. Earlier in August, S4C's standard-definition (SD) channel on Sky was switched off on August 3 as part of Sky's weekly update, resulting in the Welsh-language broadcaster streaming only in high definition, with the S4C HD channel also changing its position. This followed the broadcaster's call on July 29 for original ideas for 10-minute-long comedy pilots, seeking new comedy voices.
