The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) is a privately owned, non-profit association of national skiing and snowboarding sports federations. It is the governing body for international skiing and snowboarding competitions, including the Alpine Ski World Cup, the FIS Snowboard World Cup, and the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup. FIS was founded in 1924 and is headquartered in Oberhofen am Thunersee, Switzerland. It has a staff of approximately 230 people and is responsible for setting the rules and regulations for international ski and snowboard competitions, as well as promoting and developing these sports worldwide.
