Youku Tudou, a privately-owned Chinese video hosting service (branded Youku), was founded in 2003. The platform features both user-generated and professionally produced content. Initially a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (2010), Youku merged with competitor Tudou in 2012. In 2015, Alibaba Group acquired the combined entity, resulting in its delisting. As of 2020, Youku Tudou employed approximately 2200 people, generated over $1 billion in revenue, and maintains its headquarters in China.
