Bangladesh Cricket Board, also known as BCB, is a privately owned organization headquartered in Bangladesh. Founded in 1972, with approximately 270 employees, it reported $47.0M in revenue as of 2023. The organization primarily focuses on spectator sports, functioning as a tier 2 media tech buyer, and serves as the governing body for cricket in Bangladesh.
On March 26, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and pacer Mustafizur Rahman, long the only Bangladeshi regulars in franchise T20 leagues, were joined by leg-spinner Rishad Hossain in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with Hossain also appearing in the Big Bash League (BBL), signaling a growing presence of Bangladeshi players in global tournaments. Previously, on March 4, Minhajul Abedin, who served as Bangladesh's chief selector for eight years until March 2024, revealed he is considering a return to the national selection panel as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) opened applications for the role. Earlier, in February, the BCB confirmed its hosting rights for the T20 World Cup 2026, following key discussions concluded on February 10 among the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and BCB. The BCB acknowledged the positive role and solidarity of the PCB and ICC in these communications, which secured Bangladesh's status for the tournament and saw no sanctions imposed. This outcome followed the Pakistan government's directive on February 9 to its national team to play India in the T20 World Cup, reversing an earlier potential boycott after multilateral discussions and requests from friendly countries.
