China Media Group, also known as CMG, is a state-owned media conglomerate headquartered in China. Established in 2018 through a strategic merger, and employing approximately 50,000 individuals, the company reported $6.0B in revenue as of 2023. CMG functions as the predominant state-owned media conglomerate in the People's Republic of China, operating as a unified holding company under the direct leadership of the Central Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party. Formed from the consolidation of China Central Television (CCTV), China National Radio (CNR), and China Radio International (CRI), it serves as the primary vehicle for both domestic public discourse and China's global media outreach, emphasizing media convergence to deliver content across digital, mobile, and traditional broadcast channels.
China Central Television (CCTV) reported on April 16 that China plans to commission seven nuclear power reactors in 2026, citing the nation’s atomic energy organization’s annual report, which highlighted China's 60 operational commercial nuclear reactors and 36 units under construction as the world’s largest build-out. Earlier on April 16, CCTV, alongside other major Chinese outlets, prominently reported on April 15 about the high-level engagements of Vietnam’s top leader in China, underscoring their significance for bilateral relations. Xinhua News Agency specifically noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed confidence in Vietnam's steadfast pursuit of its socialist path during talks with the Vietnamese leader. This followed reports by Chinese state media on April 13 that President Xi Jinping called for closer economic ties with Spain and cautioned against a return to the "law of the jungle" in international relations during his meeting with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
