Digi, also known as Digi Communications, is a privately owned company headquartered in Romania. Founded in 1994, with approximately 3,190 employees, the company reported $1.2B in revenue as of 2024. It operates as a tier 1 media tech buyer and functions primarily as a Romanian telecommunications provider.
Digi became Romania's largest mobile internet provider in 2025, surpassing Orange by number of connections, while further consolidating its dominant positions in fixed internet and television services, according to data published by communications regulator ANCOM on June 23, 2026. This follows the Romanian intelligence service (SRI) stating on June 8 that a EUR 196 million contract awarded to Digi Romania for the development of an integrated large language model (LLM) cybersecurity platform complied with procedures established under the EU's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument and national legislation. Earlier, on June 1, Digi expanded its physical distribution network in Belgium by partnering with the post office, adding 655 stores and allowing Belgian residents to sign up for its mobile phone and fibre internet plans across the country. In May, specifically on May 18, 2026, the Romanian telecom authority ANCOM laid down new obligations for DIGI Romania aimed at stimulating competition and consumer choice, after an investigation by national and European bodies determined the provider holds "significant power" in the sector.
