European Tour, also known as DP World Tour Golf, is a privately owned company headquartered in the UK. Founded in 1972, the organization employs approximately 510 individuals and functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The company specializes in spectator sports. It operates as a men's professional golf tour in Europe, also legally known as the PGA European Tour or the European Tour Group, and is currently titled the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons. The organization also operates the European Senior Tour, which caters to players aged 50 or older, and the developmental Challenge Tour, which is the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe.
On August 19, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood are set to return to the DP World Tour at the Alfred Dunhill Championship this month, ending a three-year absence after settling undisclosed seven-figure fines. Their last appearance on the tour was the Hero Desert Classic in 2023. Also on August 19, the Nexo Championship concluded the Closing Swing, where DP World Tour members competed across five events in Europe and the USA for the Closing Swing champion title and a chance to play in the upcoming Back 9. Earlier, on August 18, the 116th Investec South African Open will return to Stellenbosch Golf Club from March 4-7, 2027. This follows the 2026 championship's success, which generated nearly R300 million for the local economy through a partnership involving the Sunshine Tour, DP World Tour, and PGA TOUR. Additionally on August 18, Fanatics became the exclusive retail partner of the DP World Tour and Ryder Cup Europe. This multi-year agreement names Fanatics as the exclusive operator of the Official DP World Tour Store and the European Ryder Cup Store, and its exclusive retail partner for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
