Rakuten TV, a privately owned video-on-demand streaming service headquartered in Spain, was founded in 2010 as Wuaki.tv. It offers movies and TV series for subscription, rental, and purchase. Owned by Rakuten, the company employed approximately 190 people as of its latest reporting year, 2020, and generated less than $25 million in revenue that year.
Rakuten TV announced the completion of the third edition of its AVOD for Impact initiative on an unspecified date. This campaign involves donating advertising space to organizations focused on social impact. Separately, Pixalate research, released December 30, 2024, revealed that in Mexico during November 2024, the game ‘Gangster Vegas’ generated an estimated $1 million in open programmatic ad revenue on the Google Play Store, while Moovit Metro & Bus Transit led on the Apple App Store with an estimated $160,000. The same report also indicated that Tinder was the top-grossing app on the Apple App Store in Spain ($421,000 estimated programmatic revenue) and Germany ($163,000 estimated open programmatic revenue) during November 2024.
