On April 28, 2026, Mexico defeated the Canadian U23 Men’s National Team 7-6 in an extra inning at the 2026 WBSC U23 Men’s World Cup in Sincelejo, Colombia, despite Canada's two late-game rallies. Previously, on April 22, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) awarded Shaoxing, China, the hosting rights for the Women’s Softball Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
