It is a 50–50 joint venture between Hearst Communications and Disney Linear Networks. Founded in 1984, the company has approximately 2300 employees and reported $3.8B in revenue as of 2023, functioning as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Its main product is broadcast television and radio. The company operates as a multinational broadcasting entity, owning several non-fiction and entertainment-based television brands, including its namesake A&E, History, Lifetime, FYI, and their associated sister channels, and holds stakes in or licenses their international branches.
A+E Networks extended its agreement with PodcastOne for exclusive sales and distribution rights to five podcasts: "Cold Case Files," "I Survived," "American Justice," "City Confidential," and "Ancient Aliens," effective March 19, 2026. Previously, on March 16, A+E Networks highlighted its use of artificial intelligence as a foundational tool to enhance and expand creativity across storytelling, encompassing development, production, post-production, and emerging formats, according to Steve Ascher, EVP of A+E Factual Studios. This follows the resignation of Avinash Kaul on January 6 from his roles as CEO of Network18 (Broadcast) and Managing Director of A+E Networks, concluding a tenure of over a decade with Network18 Media & Investments Limited.
