On May 1, 2026, IMG and World Rugby announced a long-term media rights partnership aimed at accelerating rugby’s expansion in the United States and globally. This agreement supports the Men’s Rugby World Cup in 2031 and the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2033, both set to be hosted in the U.S. for the first time. Previously, on April 29, IMG appointed James Sion as chief operations officer. Sion brings over 25 years of experience across insurance and financial services, having held senior leadership roles at Generali Global Assistance, Allianz Group companies, and AIG, and most recently serving as chief operating officer at The Morgan Law Group. His new role focuses on shaping IMG’s operating model, enhancing customer, client, and employee experience, and overseeing operational execution. Earlier, on April 19, IMG introduced a more centralized structure, resulting in several senior leadership changes, including the appointment of Barney Francis as chief business officer, leading all commercial functions and reporting to IMG president Adam Kelly.
