Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF), also known as the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, is Austria's national public broadcaster established in 1955. It is a state-owned entity with approximately 1060 employees and generated revenue of around $1 billion in 2023. ORF's primary offering is broadcast television and radio programming. Its funding comes from a combination of television license fees and advertising revenue. ORF holds a dominant position in the Austrian broadcast media market, a position solidified by Austria's relatively late adoption of nationwide private television broadcasting compared to other continental European countries.
ORF implemented MatchBox technology from Hitomi Broadcast as part of a large-scale migration to SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based infrastructure. This implementation involved a comprehensive timing measurement solution across the new infrastructure, facilitated by a partnership with VIDI GmbH. The news of this implementation was announced by Hitomi Broadcast on multiple occasions.
