On Tuesday, Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) announced that Spain will boycott the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna next year if Israel participates. This decision, proposed by RTVE President José Pablo López, passed with 10 votes in favor and 4 against from the organization's 15-member board. RTVE is responsible for selecting Spain's entry for the contest. Spain is the first of the "big five" nations, which provide the most funding for Eurovision, to threaten withdrawal over Israel's participation.
